love every song. You are two very talented performers. Can’t

trying to recover!! You’ll note Rock still doesn’t have
a steady job given the time and effort it must have taken to write
his post. “Awful Kanawful” rides again. Anywho…now
we wait for your return!! I hope to see you both during the Ontario
trip in July. Until then play safe eh!

J.P.
and Hilda: A brief note to say that The Messenger is absolutely superb
and well worth the wait. It hasn't been out of the CD player since
it arrived; every song is a new favourite! The liner notes and the
lyrics of Afghanistan had a tremendous effect on me … every
Canadian should hear this song! I'll be ordering more CDs for the
friends you entertained in Ottawa last November. Best regards to you
both and to Darren. We hope to cross paths again soon. Murray and

Just
a note to let you both know what a great time we both had in waltham!
The music was wonderful, as we expected. It was also real nice getting
to know you and hilda a little bit. What a pleasure spending time
with the cormier's and the boudreau's. It was just like being with
family. I've been tinkering with lyrics for a few new tunes ' ode
to rolling rock ' ' the ballad of the single malt man ' as well as
the ever popular ' scratch my bach. 'looking forward to seeing you
both soon! can't wait for the new music!!!

Hi JP;
Well 24th April is just around the bend. You will be in NH soon. Your
music will fill the air. You see I have a summer home in CB and your
going to bring with you music, CB humor and a touch of a special place
New Campbellton NS. I have tried to find a song for a while now and
can't. During one of the first guitar summits Geordie Sampson had
a song " Old Ways " just a great reflection of our elders
and the turns we make in our lives. I'm sure " Old Ways "
would be a great song for you also. Any ideas where I can find the
lyrics ?? By the way I live at the base of " Kelly's MT. "
So, bring my friends in NH touch of song that reflects the people
and beauty of " Of My Cape Breton Home "

Dear
Hilda & J.P., It’s raining here in Bahrain and Maya, Winnie
and Lyra just came in from the garden filthy. I was about to scoldify
them but I thought you guys would likely think they were cute and
scoop them up into your arms in spite of the mud. How’s that
for emotionality? Your presence resides here in our home and hearts
with the tenacity of an indelible spiritual hoverance, akin to ghostification,
but warm and soulful. It has switched my memory to random reflect
and songs from your cd’s, or pics from the week, repeatedly
send me tumbling into a numinous reverie. I know that may sound over
sentimentical, but no measure of applied reason has the omnipotence
to deduce reverie back to simple recollection, and I am left afloat.
It’s ok this floating because I can see you both from here!
Thanks for your company and camaraderability!!
XO Rock

Hi J.P.
and Hilda, I hope you are all doing well. I have not seen you all
sice Kempt Shore and i am really getting the itch. Kempt Shore was
another electric time and despite the weather it was amazing! A year
is too long to go without the amazing performances of J.P. Hilda and
Darren !! I sure hope you are coming to Kempt Shore again this year
because it definitely would not be the same without you 3 !! You and
Hilda almost seem like family and i miss you both ! Mr. Burke , Beth
and Rob all say hello and dad says thank you for the wonderful music.
I am trying to plan my vacation around Kempt Shore but i can not find
out the lineup as of yet....i hope to see you then....because....2
kempt shore festivals....2 of the best times i ever had and that has
so much to do with the way you and Hilda treated us , the amount of
time you 2 spent with us and the great feeling of enjoying music with
close friends, family and friends who are like your family !!! All
the best.

Hello
my Brother, You will never know how much your visit meant to me and
my family. It was just like we never parted ways 14 years ago. We
picked up right where we left off and never missed a beat. The people
that you entertain are some of the most blessed people in the world.
Your playing and singing has only gotten better with time and your
kind loving spirit has evolved right along also. You truly are the
gentle giant from the north woods. All of us down here in Alabama
love you and miss you. I hope you know that we all made history with
the show for Uncle Jug(Jerry Sullivan). You were the only person in
the world that could have played and sang his parts with so much heart.
You made him very happy. Tractor says hello! Take
care, Love from Joey, Suzanne,Baylee, Emalee. Wagarville,Alabama.
Tell Hilda hello and we love her also.

Hi there:
Just want to comment on the Sonwriter's circle that JP played at Smooth
Herman's in Sydney on Friday Dec.21. It was AWESOME!!! I truly enjoyed
it....the amount of talent on the stage was unbelievable. Gordie Sampson,
Bruce Guthro, Lennie Gallant and JP together....WOW!!!!! I only hope
that the next time it's done that it would be in a more intimate setting. There
were too many people there who talked through the performances and
sadly we didn't get to hear everything the artists had to say or sing.
Looking forward to the next time and a big THANK YOU to JP for the
great seats. It was nice to be in the VIP section and be able to see
the performers without people standing in front of us.

Hello JP
and Hilda,
I am nearly crying as I write this and totally devastated that you won't
be at the StanFest this year! I was enjoying visiting your website and
reading all of the wonderful comments from your friends and fans until
I
looked at your Tour Dates.....Orillia ON the first weekend in July!
My heart sank when I saw that. Because your career got 'kick started'
there, I guess somehow I thought you and Hilda would always be present
at the StanFest. Are you getting too big for us now? I sure hope not.
You will be sorely missed my friends. Sincerely, Donna Richardson (George
Hart's friend in the north)

Truly amazing.
We were at the April 20th show at Knox Acoustic Cafe in Owen Sound,
and along with what seemed to be a full house, were dazzled with some
amazing guitarmanship. Well to be honest, it was a lot more than guitarmanship,
all three of them (J.P., Hilda, and Darren), wowed us from start to
finish. Thanks for bringing some CD along as well (I haven't stopped
playing them). Thanks also to the volunteers at this new Owen Sound
folk venue. The acoustics were great and it was a perfect place to see
J.P. I hope he will be coming back here soon.
Yours truly

J.P.,Hilda
and Darren, Folks you were amazing at the concert put on at St.Peter's
RC Church in St.Peter's Bay, PEI tonight. Thank you all for putting
on such a wonderful program with some old faves and new tunes to keep
us coming back for more. Glad I was able to take our son to your show-
give him some "inspiration" and let him see just how far music
can take you - if you want it bad enough. Can't wait to hear and see
you again. Have a great Christmas break! Very well deserved rest. All
the best in 2008.

JP, just
looking through your website and glad to see you're going to have a
few days off for yourself around the holidays. Understanding that you
and I have the same love of flying, I was glad to see you made it over
for a visit to the troops in Afghanistan - I've flown in those Hercs
and they can be a real joy! Glad also to see that you're going to make
it to Bahrain for a little vacation in January! Guess you won't be driving
the van there either, eh? In any event, here's hoping that both you
and Hilda have a wonderful holiday and a truly happy Christmas. peace!

Hello JP:
Thanks for the wonderful show here in London last night. As my old Dad
says, "Boys, it's one thing to pick those hot tunes, but you have
to entertain the folks as well." You certainly did that. I appreciate
your input on that idea we spoke about. Good to get some positive feedback.
I'm working on a new solo CD, and when that's in the can, I will get
back to you in the new year with more details. Have a good show in Ottawa
and a safe return to Home.
Best Wishes,
John P. Allen

As always
JP, you astound me with your talents!!! The magic of your show with
your wife Hilda and sideman Darren is something I do not believe I will
see duplicated in my lifetime. You have an incredible command of your
instruments! I had said to a friend in the Hughes room audience, "Some
people make you want to go home and practice your guitar...or sell the
thing!!" I am a stubborn soul so I have decided to continue practicing,
the bar is just higher now... You are truly one of the "gifted".
Thank you for sharing that gift. But, more importantly you are a gratitious
reflection of a kinder spirit not found in many of today's artists.
Thank you for being approachable and sincere with your time. Any musical
career with longevity exists with purpose and carries substance or foundation.
I believe a great part of your success is derived from a primal, keen
sense and ability to understand people. Thank you for sharing yourself
musically and through conversation. I did not want to break my word
about my promise to you in Stratford so I hope you find something in
the story I finally presented to you.
Regards David Joseph...Hajna's proud father

Hi J.P.
and Hilda, It was great to see and hear you at Membertou and again at
the guitar summit in Judique. I found it disappointing that for the
second year in a row your time was cut in half (at Membertou, as it
was last year also) because the person preceding you took way too much
time! Very unfair and poorly managed on behalf of Celtic Colors. You
do have your fans you know that do come especially to see you! But we
loved your music and getting to spend a few minutes chatting with you
and Hilda. Sorry we had to miss you at Big Pond, but we're older than
we used to be and have to allow enough travel time in order to get home
and have the Boss up for work Monday a.m. We'll follow you're schedule
and who knows when we'll see you next!
Love, Gabe and the Boss

Hi JP

Cabaret De La Derniere Chance in Noranda at last years Festival Des

success also with new guitarist and some from last year. Talked with
some of your budies a group called Notre Dame de Grass. Hope in seen
you soon or if your in region stop by the Cabaret for a nice Big Cold

Hi JP
and Hilda, I heard you play at Kandahar Airfield, Afghanistan 22 May,
the last night of your tour out there - a brilliant performance in
both 'your set' and in the 'A Capella' finale - mesmerising dexterity
on your guitar and Mandolin. You've got another fan here - in particular,
Great Harbour Deep - haunting lyrics - is it recorded ? Also, forgive
me, but what was the name of the band who played with you ? The Favours
? Many thanks once again.
Jonathan Rooke, Squadron Leader, Royal Air Force.

Dear
sir I would like to say thank you and your wife for the great performance
you did for us tonight (20 may 07) here in Kandahar Airfield Afghanistan.
This is the first time I've heard of you and your music, it sounded
great, I was blown away from your performance on stage. Thank you
for spending your precious time with all the soldiers here in Afghanistan.
You have one more fan.

WOW!
The April 20th show at Knox Acoustic Cafe in Owen Sound was truly
amazing. You and your very talented trio dazzled us from start to
finish. What appeared to be a full house seemed to be memorized by
both your lyrics and some incredible picking. I also appreciated the
background stories you told about the songs. I would also like to
mention that the sound (acoustics) were quite incredible. What a great
place for the show. We hope you will be coming back soon. Yours truly,

My husband,
daughter and myself attended your St.Thomas show on April 22 and loved
it except for not being able to hear any songs from your two CD's,
Another Morning and Now That The Work Is Done. This is the music that
made us fall in love with you. The music that so moved us emotionally.
You gave us a great show other wise and the venue was so intimate
that we as fans could not have asked for anything better for the "
up close and personnal ". You and Hilda were very gracious in
all our questions and picture taking during the before and after parts
of your show. You were worth the two hour drive JP. I'll do it again
and again in the hopes of hearing Kellys Mountain from you on stage.
You gave us goose bumps that warm afternoon. Good Luck in Afghanistan
to all of you.
Cathy Gauthier, Orton Ontario.

Hi J.P.
On Friday April 20th my wife Janet and I attended your concert at
Knox United Church in Owen Sound. As you know, this event was organised
by Susan and Irwin Seidman who are two very dear friends of ours.
I want you to know how much Janet & I enjoyed that evening. Simply
put J.P., it was a brilliant musical experience. I particularily liked
the song "Harbour Deep" as it reminded me of my short stay
in Newfoundland working at the ill fated Come-by-Chance Oil Refinery
on Placentia Bay. I have very fond memories of those Newfoundland
employees and their families who went out of their way to make my
young family welcome as landed immigrants from our native Wales. We
sincerely hope you can make a return visit to this part of Ontario
in the not too distant future.
Regards,Janet & Ken Goldspink. Kincardine.

I really
enjoyed the show at the Cohn the other night, and it was just wonderful
seeing you both again!! JP, you are a musician of truly exceptional
ability! There's simply no way around it...it is a rare and wondrous
GIFT to you from The Creator, with which, in appreciation, you are
now obligated to give back to the world - insolent and fickle as it
may appear at times. To be able to virtually master all of the accoustic
stringed instruments from the typically broad and long fretted guitar
right down to the small and narrow one of the mandolin at a virtuoso
level (and at double-time picking on occasion!) is something that
anyone would rightly consider prodigious!! Even Bill Monroe was not
as versatile!! (At the point that you are at the TOP of your game,
the only open place then is IMPROVISATION, which you demonstrated
with flying colors, and that said everything to me at that instant!!)
Well deserved 2-minute standing ovation!!!

ya at the Cohn for the third time!!! You were amazing once again!! We
are in complete awe of your talent, we listened to Another Morning on

we can't get enough of your music. Thank you for adding the Cape Breton
tunes at the end, it was certainly the icing on the cake!! Best of luck
and we will see you down the road!!

inclined to visit. We will keep in touch for the tour in September,
hopefully we will catch a show. Contact us at coleen61@hotmail.com should

J.P.: I
once got the greatest compliment ever paid to me (ever),undeserved at
that and worth more than (nearly) any money. After a show in Charlottetown
a couple yrs ago a lady came to me and told me she was adding me to
her list of favorite Celtic guitarists (1) J.P. and (2)Dave MacIssac.
I told her I didn't even dream of landing among that kind of company, but
I guess she liked what she heard, so I took the compliment. You are
a monster ( good thing), sir and that's about all I can say. You set
the bar for us all and it's pretty high. I've been at this a long time
too and just feel humbled when I hear you. We played a tune once at
Sober's store in Charlottetown and boy! wouldn't I love to do that again,
esp on a couple of guitars. Keep on knockin' 'em dead and scaring the
rest of us supposed guitar players! I wondered too if you ever listened
to any Danny Gatton stuff at all? If you haven't, look it up. Thanks
for what you do so very, very well.

Hello JP
and friends, Thanks for an enjoyable show in Calgary last night. It
was my first time hearing your music and I'm glad I went! I especially
liked the song about the Hall of Dreams. The two friends I went with
(both beginning fiddlers) were very excited by the fiddle set you played
too. I have to admit we were hoping for more from the fiddle - I had
my dance shoes on and was all ready to jump up and do a few steps! Maybe
next time? We're always keen to have more Cape Breton music out here
in the West. Thanks again and all the best on the rest of the tour.

Hi guys:
Congratulations on your 3 wins, especially the Bluegrass ECMA award.
It was very gracious of you at the presentation to thank the bluegrass
pickers for keeping the music alive in Atlantic Canada. With so much
bluegrass talent in the Maritimes it is essential that bluegrass artist
participate in the ECMA. The Bluegrass Diamonds and the Birch Mountain
Bluegrass Band have been involved for years in keeping the door open
for bluegrass music at the ECMA. Also we must not forget Jerry Murphy
whose dedication to the music has spawned more and more bluegrass festivals
and a very successful bluegrass stage at the ECMA. PS... It was great
to see you both again after all this time. Sorry I missed you at the
ECMA party, I got there late. Good luck on your up coming tour and use
cruise control as much as you can.

Finnan is my brother-in-law, and I caught my first listen to you through
the Tribute to Gordon Lightfoot in Port Hope. You truly sparked something
in me, and I immediately became a huge fan. You sang Home from the Forest,
The Canadian Railroad trilogy and your beautiful song the Poet. You played
solo, however it sounded as if 3 guitars were playing not one. I also
get energy from FIDDLE SET…… WOW. You truly are a all round
talent.I think you should play the Shelter Valley Folk Festival this
summer. Every year it gets bigger and better with talent and audience,
and you would make the Festival in my opinion.
Again Thanks for the Music, Craig

Hi J.P.,
WELL 1999 in the Baddeck high school you entertained my wedding party.
You see the year before I had a chance to see the first guitar summit.
So impressed I decided to that my wedding guests to see the second summit.
All were impressed. This last October, again an outstanding performance.
I have a summer home in Newcampbellton, NS (foot of Kelley's Mtn. )and
a home in N.H. USA. Have recently noticed that you do frequent the lakes
region. We have a new venue here in Wakefield / Brookfield, perhaps
I can catch another great performance in my neck of the woods.

Hi JP,
Hilda and Darren, I thoroughly enjoyed your wonderfully entertaining
concert in Charlottetown on November 24, 2006. I had wonderful seats
in the second row and simply didn’t want it to end. All three
of you are truly, truly talented and we are so very blessed to have
such talent in the Maritimes. Many many wishes for continued success
in your careers!!! The first time I seen you in concert was with Stompin’
Tom in the Miramichi a few years ago and was thrilled to hear that you
were coming to Charlottetown.Best wishes.

Hi J.P.,
My wife and I saw you at the Savoy first of November. This was the first
performance of yours that I had attended, but let me tell ya I will
not miss another. I was totally amazed at some of the things I saw and
heard, things I never thought possible, imaging two people sharing same
instrument, unbelievable !!! As an amateur musician myself I find it
very difficult to co-ordinate two hands to work together, when they
both are connected to the same person. All three of you are so talented
and compliment each other so well, I just wanted to say thank you and
your group for a wonderful evening of entertainment, It was great. Hope
you come back soon. All the best to you and yours. Have a great Christmas.

Hi there
JP, Hilda and Darren, What an awesome show you all put on at the Confed
Centre on Friday!!
Wow, the stamina you have Hilda for step dancing! You all certainly
compliment each other---JP, you make Mayn more jealous of your talent
each time we see you perform!!! And what an addition you have in Darren---you
guys are tremendous together!!
Hope to talk to you soon, Love Bernie and Mayn
November 26, 2006
Hi
JP, Hilda, and Darren
I attended the show on Nov.17 at the Playhouse in Fredericton and
was not disappointed. Along with wonderful music, I really enjoyed
Hilda's stepdancing, and also the humor. If it were not for CBC
I would never have heard your music as I live close to the Maine
border all I get are American stations that would play your kind
of music. I recently purchased a CD that had Kelly's Mountain on
it and I often put it in my portable CD player when I go out walking.
That is my favorite song on the CD. Thanks again for a wonderful
concert. Karen Green, from the Tobique River Valley

Hi
JP, Hilda and Darren.
Thank you all for a wonderful concert in Yarmouth on the 13th of
November. Your show was phenomenal. I've followed your career for
a few years but have missed seeing you live a number of times. Thankfully,
I can no longer say that. A front-row seat gave me an amazing view.
JP, when you and Darren played the same mandolin at the same time...
brilliant! And Darren playing bass and chording at the same time
was very impressive. I knew Hilda was an great pianist but I thought
she was going to dance the stage on fire with her wonderful step-dancing.
I waited around after the concert and got to speak to each of you
and I was not disappointed. So many great talents become not-so-great
to the fans. You all seem genuinely "real". Thanks for
chatting. And what can be said about Matt Anderson other than WOW!
That was my second time seeing him and he was just as amazing each
time. Also a heck of a nice guy to talk to. Thanks for coming to
our end of the province. We really appreciate it.

This
weekend was so worth all the driving to see your show at the Cohn
auditorium in Halifax! There are not words to describe all the feelings
we felt! The other half of the "Two Tons of Fun" (Matt
Anderson) was equally spectacular! His blues is truly from the soul!
The only other blues singer with such a true feeling for the song
that was not a "person of color" was Janis Joplin queen
of the blues. We loved your show, we love you ! Keep it up...everything
you do by helping other musicians can only have a tremendous impact
on their future!
The finale of your show brought me to tears and we didn't want you
and Matt to finish!!
Outstanding!! Love to you and Hilda! See you sometime soon.. Oh
yeah, you're really bringing out Darren's personality and stage
presence with your witty four handed mandolin playong!!! Terrific!
Love, The Boss and Gabe

JP

I saw you on a TV special recently and although I heard about you
previously I didn't realize just how talented you both were. I was
at the Marigold Cultural Center in Truro last night and my wife
and I are now fans. Thanks for the great show.

Hi
J.P., Back in '99 ( if my memory serves me well ) my 2 buddies and
myself caught our 1st guitar summit show with yourself, Brian Doyle,
Gordie Samson, Dave MacIsaac, and Scott MacMillan held in Baddeck
and we were blown away. And last on the 12th of Oct. and as we expected
we were't let down either. You guys continue to inspire old farts
like myself to keep struggling away with the pick. Your solo set
J.P. was nothing short of spectacular. And John Doyle added the
spice. I hope he returns. Thank you for coming back to Nova Scotia
and bringing these great playing artists together on the stage for
us to enjoy and appreciate.
Sincerely, Jack Kelly

JP
and Hilda, Caught your show at Sessions Café in Rothsay,
NB in Sept./06 and also when you were there just after returning
from your Scotland gig. I'm the guy who keeps pestering you about
the banjo album. Coincidentally we are going to be in Toronto at
the same time you are this month so I'll pick my copy up then. Gotta
have it to complete my collection. Looking forward to your new album
in the Spring. See you soon.

WOW!
That about sums up how my wife, Allison, and I felt after watching
you perform, in Goderich. I am embarrassed to say that I had never
heard your music before. Believe me, that lack will be remedied
at my next opportunity to upgrade my music collection. Unfortunately,
by the time we had heard you, on the Sunday, I had blown my music
budget. Look forward to seeing you guys again! Thanks.

JP,HILDA
and DARREN, My friend and I recently attended The Kempt Shore Acoustic
Music Festival and were totally blown away !! I have been to a lot
of festivals and concerts , but this was tops !! The talent was
second to none ! The musicians were so nice and so approachable
, it was like we knew them for years !! There was too many highlights
to mention but when JP and Matt played guitar together ,it was something
special !! It doesn't get much better than that !!One of my favorites
was the 20 minute version of ' Can't You See ' by JP ,Matt Charlie
and Darren !! You would have to see it to believe it !! It even
made my hair stand up on the back of my neck !! WOW !! We are already
planning to go to this festival again next year !! Can't wait !
Special thanks to JP and Hilda for the great music , for spending
so much time with us and for the incredible hospitality....It's
a time Iwill never forget !! Ijust got my tickets for the 'Two Tonnes
Of Fun' tour and will be attending in Halifax . Can November 10

was the hardest I laughed in 20 years !! Brother ROB says IPSIBY

JP,
My wife and I were at the Charlie Mackinnon Festival and had a wonderful
time, the music and weather were perfect. The highlight of the day
for me was during your performance you stopped and took the time
to acknowledge a young man in the audience with his guitar , I thought
that was very kind of you , however after you set you went just
that little bit farther to show the kind of a man you are .You went
and spent a few minutes of your time with the boy and gave him one
of your CD's . There may be a few musicians out there who might
be a little better then you , I personally haven't heard them ,
I do know for sure that in a little boys heart , and mine there
is no one like you sir, for you are a true gentleman.

Its not often when you hear an artist perform and you just get a
chill down your neck and not only do you know the music is good
- you feel it! And each time I hear you I get that. Heard you first
at Acadia U Hall a few years ago with Stompin Tom. What a great
Canadian concert! You played a song about a bridge in BC. It was
wonderful. I'll be looking forward to seeing you live again. Keep
it up!

Okay,
I figured out now the song is called Great Harbour Deep. Has
it been recorded? If so, where can I purchase the song/CD?
J.P,
I was first introduced to your music just the other day durring
songwriters circle on CBC.I was very captivated by your songwriting
ability. Since then I've gotten ahold of one of your promotional
sampler cd's and I think it's great.I'll be buying the first
record of yours I see. Keep up the good song writing.
Riley
Hi
there JP and Hilda!! Just wanted to tell you how much we enjoyed
the shows that we had seen at the ECMA's----the Songwriter's
Circle was great and your skit with Rick was COOL !!!!! (Suppose
your heading for Hollywood now!!!) lol
It
was also great to meet Andre---we wish you all well.
Looking
foreward to seeing you later in Spring and Summer. Love you
both, Bern and Mayn
I
watched CBC’s songwriters circle the other day – great show –
they should have more shows like that. Anyway J.P. sang a song
about a town in Newfoundland . What was the name of that song?
Has it been recorded? I thought it was a great song and I want
to hear it again.
Caught
you on the “boob tube” yesterday in the ECMA songwriter’s circle
on CBC, what a great job you did! That tune you wrote about the
town shutting down … man … great stuff. You know there will be
four votes for you for ECMA artist of the year from the Lamey
boys.
Just
watched The Songwriters on CBC. I have been a fan of your music
for years; both instrumental and vocal…great voice. Your
lyrics are great too! Keep writing and recording. Good luck at
the ECMAs. Please come and do a concert in Corner Brook, NL

Hi
JP
Thanks
to you, your group, and Matt Anderson for the wonderful performance,
this past Friday at the Green Room in Montréal! My wife Sharon
and I, as well as our friends, Julie and Bruce really had a
great time. We had some rough going, driving up from Ottawa
in the freezing rain but it was well worth it. Sharon was tickled
that you tried to feel the baby kick after the show! Maybe we'll
name him Jean-Pierre when he's born (or Hilda...we don't know
which side (s)he plays for, yet.), we sure hope he's musical,
anyway. We have all voted for you for Entertainer of the Year
on the ECMA music awards -- good luck! Kudos to Matt and Rebecca
at Hello Darlin' productions for booking you folks.
We
look forward to seeing you again, soon

HI
JP;
I
send a sincere thank - you for violin on our (Roy LeBlanc / Wayne
Mullins) song called "Canadian Soldier", produced by your friend
& mine Claude Melanson. Canadian Soldier has been played not only
in Canada , but we have talked to members of our armed forces, &
they say "You have no idea how popular "Canadian Soldier" is in Bosnia
& Afganastan. Still being played on several stations almost two
years after release. A good friend of mine gave Jimmy Rankin a copy
at a concert in PEI. His reaction as he opened the inside sleeve...
"JP Cormier is playing on this. I'll have to listen to this for sure".
We have heard that same reaction time & time again. They usually
ask..Is this the real JP Cormier? We answer...There's only ONE. We've
had interest from our NATO represenatives in Brussels recently to
purchase the song for all "CANADIAN SOLDIERS". JP, I can't stress
strong enough the reaction of "That violin is "HAUNTING". This has
become Roy's signature song, and we both would like to say "Thank
You", we are truly indebted to you.
Thank
- You JP;

Hi
JP and Hilda. Saw you two play first time at the Grand Closing Ceileidh
at last October's Celtic Colours Festival, and we loved your music.
My wife Suzanne and I are from the West Coast, but we've lived or
traveled much of the world...visited Cape Breton two years ago and
fell in love...bought an acre on the Mira and this past year I spent
the summer & fall building a home there. Now I miss it all the
time ! We'll retire in a few years and live there more permanently (well,
maybe except the deep Winter!) Anyway, your music reminds us of why
we love Cape Breton ! Can't wait to hear you play again - ever come
to San Francisco area? PS - "Whispers of the North" is one of my favorites
of your vocal pieces - please think about more along those lines...

Hi
JP, Hilda and crew. I recently received my copy of your new 2 CD set
that I happily won through a contest on Breakfast Television. I recognized
"Kelly's Mountain" as the tune played for the contest. Now, after
listening to the version on the new CD, I am even more in awe of your
talent. I didn't know human fingers could accurately move that fast
without bursting into spontaneous combustion! Thank you for autographing
the CDs. It was a nice touch. I have played guitar for 35 of my 47
years and enjoy and appreciate your music and words immensely. I am
an instructor at the Burridge campus of the Nova Scotia Community
College. This year I started (with lots of great help) a "recording
club" so our many talented students, staff and faculty could lay down
some tracks of their own music. We are using a Tascam digital surface
unit and a couple of pieces of digital recording software. Your name
comes up frequently here, along with words like "amazing" and "awesome"
to describe your playing, singing and writing abilities. If you ever
get down to this end of the province please look me up. You will have
a grand Yarmouth welcome. Thanks for the music!

JP,
Saw you on Christmas Daddies performing “Early Morning Rain”…, had
heard many things about you but had never heard you before that. I
am a musician with a cover band called Avalon Road and just wanted
to tell you what an impressive performance you did that day. I love
Lightfoot and in particular that song. The emotion and finesse was
awesome…, was proud to be a Cape Bretoner, I assume you are from here?
The world will find you out in a hurry my friend, good luck and God
Bless. Blaise Doran, Sydney, NS.

Happy
New Year!
My
five disc CD player keeps playing "Looking Back - The Songs" ignoring
the other CDs in it. Once my ears stopped trying to compare the new
versions to the old versions they opened up to hear things I hadn't
heard before. Bravo for daring (and succeeding) in refreshing these
classic JP songs. Mostly I enjoy the bluegrass feeling to the whole
CD and the clarity of the lyrics.
Looking
forward to seeing JP and Hilda at the Black Sheep Inn in February.
Duncan.

Hi
J.P.
I
first heard your music when my wife and I vacationed on Cape Breton
Island about 5 or 6 years ago. Your music really got to me. I felt
some unexplainable, deep-rooted connection with the island. Maybe
it had to do with my Scottish roots. But after hearing your music,
I felt like I had returned to a home I never knew I had. I consider
you one of Canada's musical treasures. Hopefully we'll get to see
and hear you in person in the upcoming year. It will be well worth
the trip from Alabama.
Blessings,

Seasons
Greetings:
Just
wanted to say how much I enjoy the "The Long River" which was introduced
to me by my "Newfie" boyfriend. I have since found numerous others
who also think your tribute to Gordon Lightfoot it is top-notch. Don't
forget about us Westerners on your tour. We're not all red-necked
hicks, and we'd love to be able to attend one of your concerts!
